Refund policy
Events like the Desperado Dual take months of careful planning to make them happen. Permits, advertising, insurance and supplies must all be paid for well in advance of the event. When you enter the event we are planning for you to be there and we purchase all the of things required to take care of you. In rural Utah much of what we need is not available locally and we must go outside of the area to find the items we need. Your entry fees are already spent well before the day of the event. Therefore, it is our policy not to offer refunds of entry fees or other items purchased. We hope you understand our policy on this issue. If you have an emergency or other unusual situation please contact us. We can usually find a way to work something out.
Entry transfers
If you find that you are unable to attend the event for some reason you may transfer your entry to another rider. Please email us for instructions on how to transfer an entry. There will be a $10 transfer charge. Lost or forgotten items We will do our best to return any personal items left at the event. Please check to make sure you have collected all of your gear before leaving the event. If we must ship your items we ask that you pay for the shipping expenses. We are not responsible for any items lost or misplaced during the event.
Frequently Asked Questions
Isn't it hot in that part of Utah in August?
A: No, this part of Utah experiences mild summertime temperatures. You can expect mornings to be in the 50's and daytime temps to be in the 70's and low 80's. This may be the best place in the west to ride in summertime.
How much climbing is there on this route?
A: There is less than 8000 ft of climbing in 200 miles on the Desperado Dual. We consider it to be a double century of moderate difficulty. Make no mistake though this ride is no cruise. It is a scenic and challenging course which you will enjoy very much.
What will the elevation be?
A: You will be travelling at elevations ranging from between 6000 to 8500 feet with most of the ride taking place below 6500 feet. Most people coming up from lower elevations find that they can do well at this altitude.
Are there any bike shops nearby?
A: There are no bike shops in Panguitch. You will find well stocked shops in both Cedar City and St. George. Please come prepared with all you need or plan on stopping in one of these locations. Some supplies and services will be available at the check in area.
